Quilted Japanese wall hanging pattern. Icho is the Japanese word for "Gingko".

Geraldine Richardson has always admired the grace and beauty of oriental art for many years. So when she came across a book of Ancient Japanese Family Crests she began applying some to applique. A certain amount of artistic license has been taken with each of the "Crests" that she has adapted. Some elements have either been added or deleted in order to make the design more "applique friendly". Most are relatively quick to make and individual blocks can be used as a small wall hanging, or several can be combined for a larger quilt.
