Collection: CCUP - The Country Cupboard-Wool Whimsies - Leah Smith

Leah has been a creative spirit ever since she was a little girl. Inspired by her mother, she first learned her way around a sewing machine at the age of 12 when she took a summer sewing class at her elementary school. Her mother was very frugal and kept a box of hand me down clothes from various family members which they would cut up and re-purpose to make some of her clothes growing up. How she loved going through her mother's button tin and rummaging through her collection of ribbon scraps. She still keeps some of those same buttons & ribbons today.

At Christmastime, Leah and her mother would always make some hand made ornaments together from Styrofoam balls, ribbons, pins, beads and sequins. Growing up, she kept a sketchbook, and tried many crafts, including crochet, knitting, needlepoint, cross stitch and macramé. Throughout High School, she took a drafting course and then went on to a 2 year community college where she studied Architectural Technology. After school, she worked for an Architect as a drafts person for several years in between raising 2 boys. Later in life, she found a second career as a bank teller. Today, she is retired and still enjoys creative pursuits, her latest being wool felt applique. She credits those years in drafting for lending itself to creating craft patterns that she hopes you will enjoy!
