QFA - Quilted Fabric Arts - Carol McDowell

I make art using fabric as my medium using any number and combination of techniques, which are constantly evolving as I learn and try new things. I love the textures of free motion quilting and my goal is for the viewer to not only stop and say "Wow!" but to want to go up to it to touch, feel and pet the quilt.

I love nature and landscapes, one reason I like living in Vermont. Being a huge animal lover, animal portraits are also a favorite. Usually I will take or see a photo and use that as the basis of the quilt, make a pattern from the photo and go from there. Most of my work so far has been realistic in style and you will never hear me say - "that can't go on a quilt!"
